I have come to love Nagasaki at Serenitea. In fact, whenever we had the chance to go to the nearest mall (where there is a branch) even just to buy apparel boxes or as simple as hangers, we never pass up the opportunity so we can grab a cup of this tea.

I saw a great deal on one of the country’s famous caravan sites from a group buying site, and naturally, I took advantage of the offer. I’ve never been camping before, even as a Girl Scout, and during that time, the one time we slept outside was in the school classroom. When I learned about the camping deal, I wanted to buy some equipment for me and my husband, but the food has put me off. Although I’m not a picky eater, but I realise that camping requires food that’s easy to cook, which I’m not too familiar with. Aside from grilled food and hotdogs, I’m only used to slow-cooked dishes. I’m worried about not surviving during the trip.

However, I won’t give up, and have decided to look for foods that are good for cooking on a camping trip. So far, I’ve learned that preparation time, the food’s shelf life and weight are the most important things to consider. Nutritional content is also something to look at, as you need plenty of energy while camping.

Omelettes are good camping food, as they provide plenty of protein and energy. For storing eggs, there are special egg trays you can buy to help protect them. Food that comes in a sealed pouch is also a good option, as you only need hot water to prepare it. Marshmallows are a good snack food to take with you, especially when cooked over a campfire. Grilled food such as fish is also handy, especially if you’re near a river.

I love coffee better that Tea.. I love it hot, Frappe or just plain cold.. I love it sweet with lots of creamer. Then, one day, I learned about Vertigo.. and the culprit, my coffee! SO I had to cut down on coffee. It was very easy, not until summer, when Iced Coffee is super LOVE! But since I can’t take that much coffee in a day, I learned to love iced Milk Tea.

It was one crazy hot afternoon when I concocted my own Milk Tea, hah! Green Tea + Coffeemate + sugar + ice! yay! I know Milk Tea’s supposed to use condense milk, but mine’s good too. I added sago for some twist and the result is just great.

Now I need to find a good compost barrel for all the used tea bags or I can just put it on my vegetables

We spent the weekend at La Mesa Ecopark. We had a sumptous meal of Adobo, tomato and salted egg, with rice of course and banana on the side. Last time we went at Pasig Rainforest, we also had adobo for breakfast. The kast time we went for a picnic at Picnic Grove in Tagaytay, we also had Adobo for lunch! And even when we went to La Union and stop by at Pangasinan to look for wood blinds, we also had Adobo for lunch!

Yes, we always had adobo, specially on long trips. Why? well for one, adobo still taste good even cold. Adobo is also not spoilage prone. You cna still eat it even after 8 hours (I think.. since that’s the longest we tried). And it goes very well with tomatoes and salted eggs. It is also very easy to prepare and very easy to pack and people loves chicken and adobo of course.

For us, a long drive or a park getaway will never complete without Chicken Adobo.

I find a way to minimize my cooking time while preserving the freshness of the vegetables that I cook. I will buy a week or two weeks supply of vegetables and blanch it and place it on the freezer. Blanching is very helpful for me as it preserves the freshness of the vegetables and because it is already cooked, it will only take a few minutes to prepare a vegetable dish.

Blanching is for busy people or to those taking up degree online that they no longer have time to spend on the kitchen. They just need a day for shopping vegetables and blanching it. Put it on the freezer then take it out whenever you need it.

Blanching is very easy too. Place the vegetables in boiling water for 2-3 minutes then take it out and it’s done.

I started planting plants last month and this month, we were able to taste it. We harvested our Chinese Kangkong and saute it in garlic and soy sauce. I am not a fan of kangkong but this one tasted different. It must be because it came from our own plants. Now if you ask what I want for mother’s day. A mother’s day presents at Red Envelope will do but a soil mixture and some seeds would be better.
